Visit to Derrynane National Park National historic park on account of associations with Daniel O’Connell – 19th century statesman; beauty spot with wonderful beach & walks; the journey to the park includes possibly the most famous 10 kilometre stretch of road in Ireland

Outdoor sports Rounders (baseball), tip-rugby & other games popular in Ireland
Friday
Treasure hunt Students spend 2 hours running around Cahersiveen & surrounding area finding out information about history, geography & literary associations of the town
Saturday
Full-day cycle around Valentia Island 30 km. Cycle around Valentia Island including bike-on-ferry; wonderful views of island & ocean – very popular excursion
Monday
Walk up Castlequinn Mountain 2-hour walk (300 mt ascent) in the mountains near Cahersiveen; visit to 6th century hermitage
Tuesday
Boat-trip to Beginis Island Short boat-ride (speed-boat) to an abandoned island with unspoilt beaches and Viking remains
Wednesday
Visit & quiz at the Barracks Museum An afternoon at the local museum answering questions about the area
Thursday
Archaeological walk Walk in the vicinity of Cahersiveen including medieval castle & celtic ring-forts & swim at the end
