il presente articolo è stato scritto sia in Italiano che in inglese dagli alunni della 2H coordinati dalla prof Vitale al termine di un lavoro di ricerca e sperimentazione sia in classe che presso il centro ReMida di Piazza Dante. L’articolo è stato anche pubblicato nel numero di maggio 2015 della rivista turistica mugellana bilingue “InMugello”
Ricerca-Riciclo-Riuso: ReMida
Il progetto ReMida è iniziato a Reggio Emilia nel 1996. Si è diffuso in Toscana dove ha iniziato le sue attività nel 2010. È il primo centro di riuso e riciclaggio creativo ReMida in Toscana. Tutti i materiali scartati dalle aziende sono selezionati, riciclati e riutilizzati in modi nuovi e creativi. ReMida è situato a Borgo San Lorenzo (Piazza Dante, 34 - nel centro della città) in un grande edificio con spazi ben attrezzati di tanti materiali diversi, un giardino e un “emporio” dove essi sono contenuti. ReMida è un luogo davvero speciale: è un centro di ricerca educativa che offre laboratori per bambini ed adulti, corsi con esperti professionisti che studiano, fanno ricerca scientifica e selezionano gli scarti dando loro nuova vita. Esso è anche un posto di incontro per famiglie e bambini, dove hanno luogo eventi artistici e mostre. Qui le persone possono fare volontariato e scoprire nuovi stimoli creativi. Non ultimo ReMida è un posto dove si può esperire l’importanza del riciclaggio e del rispetto dell’ambiente. Questa è la ragione per la quale ReMida può essere considerato al contempo un centro scientifico ed artistico.
In questo luogo gli “errori” sono visti come una risorsa. Ciò che le aziende considerano “scarto” prende nuova vita e diventa utile. Proprio grazie a questi “errori” e a questi “scarti” si è in grado di scoprire nuove realtà. Una delle mostre più interessanti è stata quella in cui sono state realizzate delle bambole chiamate “sagome” fatte di diversi tipi di carta e create da bambini. A ReMida le persone possono prelevare materiali di tutti i tipi per inventare nuovi oggetti. Tra i numerosi materiali si trovano carta, cartone, plastica, alluminio, polistirolo, stoffe, legno, nastri, spugne, bottiglie, vetro, ferro, metallo, cotone e lana.
Secondo il mito greco ReMida era famoso per la sua abilità di trasformare qualsiasi cosa toccasse in oro. Questo è esattamente ciò che avviene presso il centro ReMida: si riusano e si reinventano gli oggetti trasformandoli in qualcosa di prezioso.
La nostra visita a ReMida rispecchia questa magica esperienza, estremamente significativa perché abbiamo potuto scoprire un nuovo mondo che ci ha permesso di apprezzare e rivalutare materiali di scarto, trasformando l’inutile in utile attraverso la nostra immaginazione. Questo tipo di esperienza può essere considerata una sorta di “rinascita”, un prendersi cura proprio di quelle cose rifiutate e considerate inutili dal mondo industriale.

REsearch-REcycle-REuse: REmida
The ReMida project was started in Reggio Emilia in 1996. It made its way to Tuscany where it started its activities in 2010. It’s the first reuse and recycling creative ReMida centre in Tuscany. All materials, rejected by factories, are selected, recycled and reused in new and creative ways.
It is located in Borgo San Lorenzo (Piazza Dante, 34 - town centre) in a large building with rooms well equipped with lots of different materials, a garden and a “emporio” in which materials are stored.
ReMida is a very special place: it’s an educational research centre which offers workshops for children and adults, professional training with experts who research, study and select all materials and give new life to “waste”. It’s also a meeting place for families and children and it’s a place where exhibitions and lots of art events take place. It’s a place where people can volunteer and where they can discover new skills and abilities. Last but not least it’s a place where people can experience how significant recycling is and how important our environment is. This is the reason why ReMida can be considered a scientific and at the same time a creative and art centre.
In this place ʺmistakes’’ are considered as a resource. What factories consider ‘’waste’’ is given a new life and thanks to these mistakes and to this waste people are able to discover new things. One of the most exciting events was the creation of very special dolls called « sagome », made of different kinds of paper and created by children. To ReMida people can withdraw materials of all kind to create their own objects. Among the various and numerous materials there is paper, corrugated paper, plastic, aluminium, polystyrene, fabrics, wood, ribbons, sponges, bottles, glass, iron, cotton, metal, wool.
According to Greek Mythology King Midas is popularly remembered for his ability to turn everything he touched with his hand into gold. This is exactly what happens at ReMida: you can reuse and reinvent all objects by transforming them into something precious.
Our visit to ReMida mirrors this kind of amazing experience. First of all it has been very significant because we discovered a new world where we could appraise and value old materials, where we could recycle them by using our imagination and find out new ways to give them a new life too. This kind of experience can be considered a sort of « Rebirth » and special care for what is neglected by the industrial world.
